Default Sample Content for Wordpress Theme development

For some time I’ve been looking around for the default text that you seen on Wordpress.org themes – text that shows each element and how it will look in any given blog. Such a source of text would be fantastic for theme developers like myself.

Look back over it, I don’t know why I just didn’t create this myself.. but oh well, hind site is a wonderful thing.

The lads, or should a say a Lad (Dan Philibin) over at WP Candy has created such sample WordPress content ready for all your theme needs.

Here’s what’s int he importable XML file.

  • Multiple posts with different elements in each
  • 12 Posts to force pagination
  • Block quotes, lists – ordered and unordered – and floating images
  • Comments on a few of the posts
  • Parent, child, and grandchild categories and pages
  • Tags
  • Multiple months for the archives

Installing the sample content couldn’t be easier as well

Then, log in to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Manage>Import. Select the WordPress option from the bottom of the list, choose your file, and upload it. Within a few minutes you should have a ready-to-go development server.

Head on over toWP Candy and grab the zip file

Looks like wpcandy has a great package. I downloaded a custom themes package a while ago from another guy and discovered that I didn’t like most of it. I did find a couple that worked for me though, so I guess that’s all that matters… eh?
