This is nice but it won’t fix my problem. I install Win7, and after bios it just goes to black/blank screen. No mouse no login. That’s it. Can’t even go to safe mode (pressing f8 does nothing). I can’t even go back to my winxp (had to do a winxp repair). Piece of sh$t. I have geforce 8800gt with latest winxp driver.

hey man,i have been having this problem on hp compaq presario cq60 210 tu,and it doesnt have nvidia its has got intel chipset,i have done your suggestion above and still wouldnt let me log into the laptop in normal mode,im not sure what else to do.i have observed that everytime i let the windows update the computer screen goes black after log in.Any suggestions regarding this?

Hi Jamie,

Thanks fo your post. I am however still having difficulties with the black screen on boot up. I’m a bit of a newbee so im prob doing something stupid!!! I have followed your instructions to the letter however I am using a Samsung R520 laptop the display adaptor seems to be “Mobile Intel R Series Chip Set” I have downloaded the latest version of the driver from the Intel site but alas I still seem to have the same problem!!! Your help would be very much appriciated?

I was not a great fan of Vista, I am really hoping that Windows is faster and more stable.

In typical fashion Microsoft is having a firesale of sorts on their new OS, Windows 7. It’s available for pre-order for 50% or more off. They do this to build a quick fanbase and make some headlines. Good news is that we can save some big bucks until July 11th – that’s when the sale ends.
