Ah Ha! OS X is not infallible

Apple iMac took four months before it crashed!

Today I walked into the office with my cup of cha (family joke for Tea) and woke my trusty iMac from it’s slumber. I turned to my Windows PC and started that painful lump up as well. I then cast my attention to my iMac to find it had crashed!

This would have to be one the first time that I’ve been happy to see a computer crash as it proved that the iMac is not infallible, it’s not super human, it’s not prefect.

The great news is I’ve had this iMac now for 4 months and it has not crashed on me once. In contrast I re-installed Windows XP SP3 yesterday on my PC and it crashed within hours of a fresh install. It was most probably not the fault of Windows, rather some dodgy software install from a 3rd party - but non the less it crashed only hours after a fresh install.

How long has your Mac gone without a crash? I would love to hear :)

Update 04.09.08 : In case you are wondering, the program that now looks like snakes and ladders on the good ol’ Commodor 64 was the OS X Terminal.

Hey Jamie, nice post.
I bought my Mac in Nov 2007 and it never crashed since. Macs are computer’s Rolls Royce ;)

Thanks jbj

I hate to say it because I don’t like the general Mac community of blind faith, but yeah… Rolls Royce it sure is :)

Hell yeah, it’s imperfect. At least the price is.
